Coming to photography from a career in the music industry, I’ve spent my fair share of time travelling up and down the country helping artists play their first run of seminal shows to help grow their fan base. These venues have been increasingly under threat from closure due to significant lack of support government support. Inspired by the amazing work of the Music Venue Trust, I wanted to highlight these amazing spaces and celebrate them in a way that a concert hall or theatre might be viewed. These are supported by portraits of the people working tirelessly to keep them afloat as well as the artists that have benefitted from their support. From ‘Day & Night’ Manchester to ‘The Joiners’ in Southampton, they have seen the likes of Oasis, Ed Sheeran and Coldplay Grace their stages. This project is here to highlight their huge importance in supporting the next generation of new talent and securing these sites of cultural and community importance for many years to come.
